Britain’s Parking Hell continues on C5
Plimsoll lands second series of vehicle-related beefs.
Channel 5 has commissioned a second series of Plimsoll Productions’ doc series Britain’s Parking Hell.
The show follows stories of motorists, councils and private parking companies as Britain’s 38 million vehicles vie for eight million parking spaces every day.
Series one aired in August last year to an average of 1.5m (7.5%), up on the 5.1% benchmark share. The four-parter showcased bus drivers in Bath, a disgruntled dad fighting to make the streets safer for his kids and cars flooding seaside ports.
The 12-part re-order came from outgoing C5 commissioning editor Sean Doyle, who is joining Channel 4.
Plimsoll’s Karen Plumb and Grant Mansfield are executive producers and Magnify Media, in which Plimsoll owns a stake, will distribute the series internationally.
“Series two will look to build on its success, documenting parking conflicts from both sides and the passions this very British battle evokes,” said Plumb.
In the past month, C5 has announced new unscripted shows from Athena Films (Saving Britain’s Hedgehogs), Lambent (My House And Other Animals), DSP (Dog School), Avalon (Dogs Behaving Badly and Hotels: Upstairs And Downstairs), Voltage TV (London: 2000 Years Revealed).
